A Fistful of Funk

Dramaturge, texts, voice over, direction of the dialogue: Juho Keränen

Choreography: Akim Bakhtaoui, Wilhelm Blomberg & Will Funk For Food
Lenght 75 min
In English, no subtitles yet

Five street dancing cowboys go on a journey, which leads them deep into the desert and their own souls.

A Fistful of Funk is the first full-length performance made in Finland, based on the street dance style locking. The creators of the work, Will Funk For Food, are one of the most internationally successful street dance groups in Finland.

The work is inspired by the hypermasculinity and toxic machismo of western films and the genre's cavalcade of characters. In addition to exploring the themes of friendship and brotherhood, the performance uses the western setting as a platform for playful street dance duels, known as battles.

In short

Funky. Juicy. Groovy. Hilarious. Cowboys in existential crisis. A horse. Sort of. Yee-haw!
