You can already go to the theatre as a Meta avatar in our demo app. The first ones to try the feature were senior citizens in Helsinki. We tested the feature with them in a laboratory environment in a joint project with Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences. Their Home Opera project studied the combination of senior citizens, culture, and technology.
The seniors just loved everything about it – creating avatars, seeing each other in theatre, starting shows, and watching together.
Each of the test persons was in separate rooms. What was a little amusing was that they whispered to each other… Because you can’t talk out loud in a theatre!
That’s how real our virtual reality experience is.
